Winmail Viewer is a program that allows users to read winmail.dat files.
These files are often received from people that use Microst Outlook, Outlook Express or Microsoft Exchange applications as their email client, and has sent that message in RTF format. When someone does it, Outlook generates a file, winmail.dat, and attaches it to the end of the message. Winmail.dat contains formatting information that can be interpreted by other Outlook email client, but some others will not be able to read them, such as Mozilla Thunderbird, IMP, or Eudora.
Those using an incompatible email client will receive a normal message text along with an attached file named 'winmail.dat'. Strictly speaking it's not a Word rich text file and you can't use Word to read it.
Winmail reader is the solution for this problem. You will be able to open any winmail.dat file as if you were using Outlook, and see the attachments that were sent to you.
The free version of this program will not let you view and save the attachments, but you can read the text in the proper format.
